CLA seeks experienced members to choose Conference programs

The Canadian Library Association is seeking three experienced members to serve on the Conference Program Committee for 2008-2010. The Conference Program Committee chooses the concurrent programs from the submissions received.

CLA needs one expert in each of these three Conference streams:

  • Technology;
  • Trends & Research; and
  • Management (including leadership and human resources).
The committee member will review the Conference programs submitted in her/his stream and make recommendations on which programs should be accepted; which might be strengthened by being modified or combined with another submission; and which ones will not be accepted this year.

The Conference Program Committee meets in late September to choose the programs. The committee members then contact session proposers to let them know the committee’s decisions and if necessary to work with the proposer to fine-tune the session.

This is an opportunity to make significant contributions to the professional development of librarians, library technicians, trustees and others in the library and information community. Extensive knowledge within the Conference stream topic, ideally from a national or international perspective, is essential.

Please send your expression of interest to Brenda Shields, bshields@cla.ca or fax 613-563-9895 by August 7, 2007. Please include “Conference Program Committee” in the Subject line.
