Do you know an outstanding special librarian?

CASLIS is seeking nominations for the 2009 CASLIS Award for Special Librarianship in Canada. Established in 1978 and first presented in 1979, this Award recognizes and rewards excellence in the field of special librarianship by a CASLIS member.

The Award is granted to a CASLIS member based on consideration of CASLIS/CLA involvement and professional activities, including:

  • Holding elected/appointed office
  • Speaking at/organizing Divisional/Association workshops, conference programs, seminars etc
  • Undertaking special projects for CASLIS/CLA
  • Representation of CASLIS/CLA to, or significant involvement with, other relevant professional associations
  • Publication of professional paper(s), conducting original research etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership and innovation in advancing special librarianship in Canada
Nominations should include a brief biographical sketch outlining the candidate's achievements and qualifications for the Award, and be accompanied by the signatures of 2 CLA members. All nominations will be held in confidence.

Please send nominations to Melissa Fraser, CASLIS Secretary by no later than February 10, 2009.

The Award will be presented at the Canadian Library Association Annual Conference in Montreal Quebec May 29 - June 1 2009.
