13th Annual Diefenbooker Classic

Lace up for the library - Saturday, May 2

The Diefenbooker Classic is a charity run that promotes active living and raises funds for two loved West Carleton institutions: the Ottawa Public Library and the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum.

Funds donated to OPL are earmarked for service enhancements at the Carp, Constance Bay and Fitzroy Harbour branches.

Runners, walkers and cyclists of all ages can register for distances that range from one to 33-kilometres. Prizes are awarded for the top three runners in the five and 10-kilometre races. Walkers with leashed dogs are welcome, and family registration is available.

Runners and walkers stride through the Diefenbunker blast tunnel - the entrance to the underground complex that was designed to shelter top government officials in case of nuclear attack.

For more information consult the Diefenbooker website.
