Petition re: LAC service cuts

From: Heather Steel [steelh@yorku.ca]

As I am sure most of you know, Library and Archives Canada has substantially reduced service hours starting this September. Graduate students are very concerned about the impact of this reduction on their research, so I have started an online petition to express our opposition to these changes.

If you would like to sign the petition please visit the following link: http://www.petitiononline.com/history8/petition.html.

The petition is on behalf of graduate students, but if faculty and other concerned individuals would like to sign it in solidarity, please feel free.

Librarians should encourage their patrons to sign the petition. LAC will likely care more about what library users think than what the library community thinks.

LAC is holding an "informal session" to deal with the uproar next Wednesday afternoon in Ottawa.
