Competencies of the Federal Government Information Management Community

The Canadian General Standards Board has just published CGSB-192.2-2009, Competencies of the Federal Government Information Management Community. This new CGSB standard has been developed for the Government of Canada’s IM Community, that comprises approximately 10,000 federal public servants across Canada, whose primary responsibilities involve information management (IM).

The standard defines the competencies that are essential to demonstrate proficiency in activities that are common to all, rather than specific to any, of the disciplines comprising the information management (IM) function within the Government of Canada.

This standard is being used to serve as the foundation for a Professional Development and Certification Program for IM functional specialists in the Government of Canada.
