CASLIS Government Section is pleased to offer a full-day workshop on career development for students and new professionals with Ulla de Stricker.

Agenda:

Positive Politics: Building a Healthy Workplace
When a workplace "works" it is no accident. It takes concerted effort - on the part of everyone - to create an atmosphere that has team members looking forward to Mondays! Ulla outlines straightforward ways new professionals can contribute to creating a supportive and productive environment.

Résumés: Let's tackle the monster
Come get the definitive word on what works, how to handle "tricky" information, ways to make the resume stand out visually, and the all-important advice on making an impact in the first 3 seconds a reader looks at the document.

Where do you "fit"? Understanding your "career type"
Some organizational environments are inherently more attractive to each of us than others are. Knowing the types of workplace cultures out there and knowing our preferences and strengths in working within them is ad advantage in focusing the job search as well as in presenting ourselves to potential employees. Ulla discusses the elements of culture and personality that figure in a good organizational "fit".

Self promotion, no cringe: Gaining visibility through giving
Professional visibility is invaluable when it comes to pitching ourselves to employers. How can we gain a reputation to precede us - without feeling awkward? Ulla describes how we can make ourselves known in the profession through activities focusing on delivering value to others.
